Raja’s Night On The Town

Wayward Kitty
Wayward Kitty

Last night was Raja night on the town! My wayward kitty stayed out Way after hours.

Sometime around 5:00 pm we got back from an early dinner, and we let Raja and Zoe out to enjoy the rest of the evening before coming inside for the night.

Raja had other ideas. He decided to go roaming. That usually only happens until 9 o’clock at the latest, 10:30 if he’s really pushing it, midnight and he’s being a total jerk. He Never stays out at night.

Around 8:00 pm last night he was under the car. No problem. That’s not unusual. We finished watching our TV show. We tried to coax him out but he was having fun just sitting there, so we opened the garage a crack hoping he would come in. He didn’t come out. The next thing we noticed he’s gone.

Nine pm goes by and it’s getting dark. No Raja. Nine thirty, still no Raja. Ten thirty and nothing. By now, I had driven around the block twice, and I had started to get nervous.

Eleven thirty finally rolls by and he came prancing across the back yard but wouldn’t  come in. He also looked a little spooked, so we wondered if he could have gotten into a fight or something had scared him. He scooted off, but at least we knew he was around. I expected to see him any minute at the front door. But, No.

Somewhat reassured, I stayed up waiting for him to appear again. Twelve thirty, and I periodically went outside to call him as softly as I can, because it’s late. No, no, no! I almost fell asleep in the chair. And I had started getting worried about him. Mary had gotten up several times to check on him as well.

Around 1:30 am I called him again and heard his jungle jangle as he came toward the car in front. But did he come in? No! Raja ran and hopped over the fence. Very weird. This is the latest he has ever been out. But at least I know he is around.

I finally gave up and had to go to bed. He would just have to stay out, which I really hated. I had a hard time falling asleep, but finally did around 2:30 am.

I was reassured that I had seen him several times, but still worried by his being out and his strange behavior. Still, I believed he would come in bright and early in the morning.

Fortunately, he was right there in the morning. Mary let him in first thing, and he came running. Why didn’t he come running last night? Now we are both dead, and have had little sleep, but at least he is home.

Crapped Out Kitty
Crapped Out Kitty

Raja is a crapped out kitty and has scarcely budged from the deck this morning and seems to be staying really close. Maybe the night life wasn’t all he had hoped for. Maybe he freaked when he couldn’t get in after we finally did go to sleep. Maybe it put the fear of G-d in him. I doubt it. We don’t know what was going on in his little brain, but hopefully, he won’t stay out that late again.

  1. Nice to meet you Raja! Whoa! I never go outside. I still remember when I was feral and lived out there. You’re lucky you don’t live where there are coyotes. I just heard about a friend’s cat who was mauled and killed by one.

    1. Nice to meet you, too. I am glad you came by. I did scare my mommy, didn’t I. I like being outside and howl when I don’t get my way, but didn’t like being out all night either. My mommy says she wants to build a cat fence so I can’t roam the neighborhood. I don’t know if I would like that, but she wants me safe.

  3. Silly Raja, worrying your humans like that. One or two of mine will go off for a couple of days and then return. It is very frustrating. But I am glad he came home. I still think they are better off to be able to go outside and act like a cat. Some of mine do stay inside all the time but most of them go in and some stay out all the time but they usually stay in the yard. You all have a great week end.

    1. Thanks for coming by. Yes that boy does worry me. I’m that way. I don’t know what I’d do if he disappeared for a day or two. I agree with you though, I’d rather have a happy kitty who could go out rather than one that got cooped up in the house.
